Description

Farah loves mangos! She could eat them all day long and she wouldn’t mind living in one either. Every summer when she visits her Grandpa they always pick the ripe fruit from his mango tree. This year, however, the tree is empty! Farah puts her mind to it and decides she will make the tree grow fruit. But perhaps Farah will learn there is more to a mango tree than just the fruit it bears?

Publisher Review

A dose of bottled sunshine. Farah's infectious smile alone, beaming from the lively cover, ought to ensure it bounces off the shelves. -- The Observer This exceptional picture book (...) makes the outdoors inviting, and has an important message about not turning nature into a commodity or valuing it simply for your own gain. -- The Sunday Times A beautiful heart-felt read bursting with colour and joy. It teaches us how to face change and shows that even when the things we love disappear, what comes in their place can bring unexpected happiness. -- Jasbinder Bilan, author of Asha & The Spirit Bird A delicious, joyful book that made my heart sing. -- Nizrana Farook, author of The Girl Who Stole an Elephant An exquisitely illustrated story, told with the perfect balance of humour and warmth. * Ella Bailey, creator of 'No Such Thing' * Lovingly illustrated and brimming with life, Farah Loves Mangos is playful, heartwarming and so beautifully moving. -- Steve Antony author of 'Mr Panda' series This funny and colourful celebration of nature is about finding joy in accepting things as they are, not wishing for something else, and has a brilliantly spirited heroine. -- Charlotte Eyre, The Bookseller An uplifting and funny story about a young girl who learns to love the unexpected and hidden things in life. -- The Bookseller's Children's Buyers Guide Warm encouragement to value the natural world for more than its tangible offerings. -- Kirkus Reviews Sweet as a Fresh Mango! What lovely tale! With fabulous, vivid illustrations. I can't even decide what melted my heart more: the story or the drawings. -- Waterstones, Trafalgar Square A beautiful, warm book with great illustrations that you will want to get lost in and see the world a new. -- Shelf Editions bookshop Sarthak Sinha is fast becoming one of my favourite modern illustrators. The cartoony style is brilliant! Each page is a delight as Farah's character just jumps off the page while the vibrant nature surrounds her. Now for the teacher bit. It is a great text to explore the concept that trees, and all plant life, isn't just for human pleasure. Often we can focus on why natural resources benefit humans when teaching geography and can ignore the fact that they exist for all living things. Sharing this book would be a great way to open up that discussion. Farah loves Mangoes, I'm smitten about this book. -- North East Teacher * The Great British Bookworm - Teacher Reviews * Definitely one of our favourite books of 2023 (.) a heart-warming intergenerational story that shows us the beauty of seeing familiar things in different ways. -- @inclusive_childrens_books on Instagram Immediately added to my list of '2023 best picture books' (.) it's fun, the artwork is incredible and very artistic, the story is meaningful but in a light sweet way. -- @thekidsbookstagrammer on Instagram A really lovely message delivered with such verve and humour. -- @thelittleliterarysociety on Instagram The sunny colours, the beautiful intergenerational relationship, playful illustrations with humorous details and the gentle message of nature and understanding that there's more than one way to see things all combine in a really heart-warming read (.)
